Goring’s “Hands across the River” Home Movie success featured on BBC2

Goring-on-Thames’ preparations and celebrations of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee on 11th June 1977 were featured on the BBC programme “Great British Home Movie Roadshow” on Friday 27th August, when the story of David Engleman’s 14 minute documentary was told. Many of the people who appeared in the 1977 film also appear in the Road Show version!

Piano recital by Janet Pound, who will be joined by Amanda Hines on clarinet and Jo Almond on flute. The concert will be followed by tea in the Canterbury Room.
Free admission, but there will be a retiring collection towards ongoing church improvements.

A series of short informal musical performances to enjoy whilst having a cup of tea or coffee and cake. Music to suit all tastes – instrumental, vocal, guitar, piano and organ.
Admission is free. Tea/coffee & cake is £1.50. Stay all afternoon or come and go as you please!

Come and treat yourself at the 2nd Goring International Sausage Barbeque, followed by the very popuar Quiz Night.
Chris Jones will cook several varieties of sausage with a wide choice of relishes.
The Quiz starts at 7:30pm and will have a number of rounds with questions for all age groups.
